As you can see in the video, this driveway is in bad shape. It’s been mostly covered up by weeds and it looks terrible as a result. To fix this, we need to chew up all the weeds and grass covering the crushed stone. The customer wants us to extend the driveway too, so we’ll need to chew up the ground farther than the driveway originally went.
The tool we use to clear the weeds from the driveway is our Vermeer 925 mini skid steer. We attach a power rake to the mini skid steer and go to town on the old driveway, leaving flat soil on the ground. Unfortunately we can’t salvage any of the old gravel from this driveway, but it’s not an issue because we have newer and better crushed stone to lay down.
The stone we spread on this driveway is #8 wash stone. This stone is sturdy and doesn’t crumble easily, which is something that can happen to lesser stones after being driven over for years. After laying down the stone, we use a grading attachment on our Vermeer 925 to smooth it out. Finally, we can sit back and admire our work.
