Frequently Asked Questions
What are some of the Frequently Asked Questions?
Why choose Schott Services?
As my motto says, "You Get Me From Start To Finish!". I'm not fancy or flashy and my truck will most likely be dirty. (that's me in the picture above!) You will only deal with me from first phone call, text or email to shaking your hand when the job is complete! And, I will have a smile on my face while helping you. We are an Indy local, family owned & operated business since 2003! We provide junk removal, hauling, light demolition, gravel driveway repair, landscape removal and brush clearing services. Just to name a few! We offer Bobcat (mini skid steer) services as well. You can have peace-of-mind knowing you will communicate with the same person until the job is done. You will also know exactly who to expect arriving at your home! I can promise you won't meet many others that work as hard I do to earn your satisfaction. Go to our About Us page to learn why I work so hard, hint: It's the picture at the top of the page!

What is your service area?
We work in Indianapolis, Carmel, Fishers, Lawrence, Zionsville, Whitestown, Brownsburg, Avon, Plainfield, Mooresville, Greenwood, Southport, Beech Grove, New Palestine, Cumberland and McCordsville. We typically stay within a 20 mile radius of downtown Indy covering all areas within that circle. Click Here to see our service area or scroll to bottom of this page!

How do you schedule jobs?
All scheduling is done by owner, John Schott. We work fast and want to be efficient with our time. And, more importantly your time! We all have busy lives and we strive to provide clear, concise communication. We believe with technology this day in age that communication should be easy, efficient and of utmost importance! John Schott keeps in touch with customers through call or text: 317-784-8760 or email: HappyDumpTruck@gmail.com

How soon can you provide services?
We recommend 1-3 days notice to provide services for many of the smaller 1-2 hour jobs. These can typically be done very quickly depending on weather, time of season and location. If you are needing a load of trash or junk hauled away many times it can be the same or next day. Scheduling of larger jobs are typically put in the queue on a first come-first serve basis. But, again time of season, weather and complexity of job can affect schedule. We are slower from December through February so contact us for winter pricing and much quicker service.
What items can you take?
We can take just about anything! Check out our What We Take page for everything we can remove from your home or business. If you don't see it on the list, go ahead and call. Try to surprise us! If we can get it on our trucks, we will haul it away. We have hauled away many different items from a pair of extremely heavy concrete lions to an 800 pound motorcycle! The only materials we are unable to take include hazardous materials, chemicals, paints, oils, or other toxic materials. Click to find the closest Tox Drop in Indy to dispose of such items.

What happens to items you haul away?
We do our best to recycle, reuse, or donate all your unwanted items. Many household items get donated to a variety of charities depending on their location. We have proudly supported and donated to St. Vincent de Paul of Indianapolis for many years. We recycle all metals, appliances, and electronic waste. We take yard waste, branches, brush, leaves, and tree debris to GreenCycle to become mulch and compost. What a great opportunity to keep less out of landfills and more to be recycled!
How much junk can you haul?
Our dump truck and trailer setup is ideal for many different jobs. With our dump truck and trailer combined, we are able to haul 25-30 cubic yards of material in one load! With our setup we can separate items being donated, recycled or to be reused. That's how we can save you time and money! We have a unique system to compact trash, large furniture and brush piles on-board our trailer as we load your junk and trash. Now, you have to call us to see this space saving trash smasher in action!

Are you licensed and insured?
We are fully insured for all services we provide. If you would like to see our documentation, just let us know. We do not have any type of licensing because all of our services we provide do not require permits. If your project requires a permit then most likely we will not be the right service provider for you. But, if you are not sure whether your job needs a permit please give us call. If we can't help you, we can typically put you in the right direction!

How do you accept payment?
We accept check, Zelle, Venmo and all major credit cards. Credit card transactions are processed thru a secure link with Square Checkout so you are able to pay in private and on your own time! We do add 3% credit card processing fee and 1.9% on Venmo. Checks and Zelle are free! We can provide invoicing for services so there is no need to be present while we work. We don't accept payment until you are completely satisfied...our goal is your satisfaction!
What are your prices?
While most jobs vary greatly depending on size and location, we can give you a better estimate by checking out our pricing page. Text or email pictures for a quick estimate on junk removal jobs. For normal household junk, furniture, appliances and brush piles we charge per the volume of pickup truck sized load which is standard in the industry. But, our truck/trailer combo will hold the volume of several pickup truck sized loads, up to 30 cubic yards. For heavier materials, demolition work, landscape removal, forestry mulching and gravel driveway work pricing can very greatly. These may require an on site review of job and estimate, but sometimes can be estimated via pictures!

How do you give estimates?
All estimates and communications are done by owner, John Schott! Pictures can help greatly with getting an estimate much quicker! Text or email pictures of what you are needing removed and we will get a price to you right away! For gravel driveways, landscape removal, lot clearing or larger sized jobs, John Schott does his best to get to all new job requests within 1-2 weeks from March through November. December through February is slow so we can typically look at your job within a few days. And, we offer discounted winter pricing so please call for more details.
